Kapu reservation stir: Angry mob set police station on fire in Andhra Pradesh


Hours after setting several coaches of Ratnachal Express to fire, Andhra Pradesh’s Kapu community set a police station on fire on Saturday night.

The angry mob burnt the entire police station in Tuni including several police motorbikes and other government vehicles.

I’m Saturday, angry members of Kapu community had burnt two coaches of Ratnachal Express in Tuni leading to the cancellation of host of other trains.

Union Minister Venkaiah Naidu has urged the protesters to avoid violence while demanding for OBC status.

He said, “Violence at Kapu reservation stir is unfortunate and condemnable. Should be avoided. Violence weakens the cause.”

AP Chief minister Chandrababu Naidu said that he was committed to the reservation for Kapu community for which a judicial commission was also set up. He, however, warned that his government was reviewing the situation and ‘criminals’ wouldn’t be spared.

He said, “I am reviewing the situation with the officials, Criminals would be spared.”
