Delhi Assembly Speaker Ram Niwas Goel has disqualified rebel AAP MLA Kapil Mishra for indulging in anti-parties activities. AAP MLA Saurabh Bhardwaj took to Twitter share the order from Goel.

Kapil Mishra

The order by the Delhi Assembly Speaker read, “Shri Kapil Mishra, the Respondent in this case, an elected member of the Legislative Assembly of the National Capital Territory of Delhi, elected from Karawal Nagar, Constituency No. 70 has become subject to disqualification under Paragraph 2 (1) (a) the Tenth Schedule of the Constitution. That the disqualification of said Shri Kapil Mishra takes effect from 27.01.2019.”

The order by the Speaker said that Mishra’s constituency had now fallen vacant following his disqualification.

The reason why Mishra’s disqualification has come into effect from 27 January 2019 is because this was the date he shared the stage with senior BJP leaders Vijay Goel and Delhi BJP chief Manoj Tiwari to launch a campaign vowing to win all seven Lok Sabha seats of Delhi for Prime Minister Narendra Modi.

Reacting to the news, Mishra said that he will move the High Court against the order adding that the matter will end in his favour in no time at all.

Although the seat of Karawal Nagar has fallen vacant, the Election Commission is unlikely to hold an elections since the next assembly polls in Delhi is scheduled in less than six months’ time.
