Judge's wife killed by bodyguard in Gurgaon, son left battling for life

A bodyguard of a district court judge in Haryana’s Gurgaon on Saturday shot at the former’s wife and her son as the family visited Arcadia Market in Sector 49 for shopping.
The entire act was captured on camera by eye-witnesses. In the video, an armed man in khaki uniform is seen dragging a young boy after having shot at him. Unable to put him back in the car, he throws the unconscious body on the floor and escapes the crime scene in a white car.
The security guard, who shot at the wife and son of additional sessions judge Krishan Kant Sharma has been identified as Mahipal Singh. Police were able to arrest him the same day from Faridabad. “An additional sessions judge’s wife and son were shot at. They have been admitted and the doctors have taken them for a procedure,” DCP Gurgaon (East) was quoted by NDTV.
The judge’s wife, 38-year-old Ritu, succumbed to her injuries at a hospital on Sunday morning, while the son, Dhruv, is still battling for his life.
The police team investigating the shocking incident said that they were trying to ascertain the reason for the murder. However, some media reports suggested that Singh, also a resident of Mahendragarh in Haryana, was upset with how he was being treated by the judge’s family.
Soon after he shot at Ritu and Dhruv, he called the judge to inform him about his murderous act. The accused’s wife is a teacher and has two children.
