The judge, who had pulled up the CBI, for raiding the offices of Delhi chief minister, Arvind Kejriwal’s principal secretary, Rajendra Kumar, in December last year, has now been transferred.
The CBI judge, Ajay Kumar Jain had also urged the High Court to initiate contempt of court proceedings against CBI’s investigation officer.
Jain had also slammed the federal probe agency for failing to comply with CrPC provisions during the raid.
According to Indian Express, he was also hearing some high-profile corruption cases like the CWG scam and the Enforcement Directorate’s case in the AgustaWestland scam.
Additional Sessions Judge Arvind Kumar, presently posted at the Tis Hazari district court, will replace Jain as the special CBI judge at the New Delhi district.
This comes weeks after the High Court judge, Justice KM Joseph, was transferred to Andhra Pradesh High Court days after he slammed the central government for dismissing the elected government of Uttarakhand. In his order, Justice Joseph had quashed the President’s Rule in the hill state.
Reacting to the development, the Aam Aadmi Party was quick to sense a foul play.
AAP leader Ashish Khetan tweeted, “Is there an invisible hand behind d transfer of CBI judge Ajay Kr Jain who passed one stinging order after another in Rajendra Kumar case?”

Just like questions were raised on Justice Joseph’s sudden transfer, Judge Jain’s transfer in mysterious circumstances is bound to raise a few eyebrows too.
