Journalist Rajdeo Ranjan shot dead in Siwan, Bihar


Journalist Rajdeo Ranjan was shot dead in Siwan in Bihar on Friday.

Ranjan was reportedly killed by unknown people travelling on a motor cycle.

Ranjan reportedly Hindi newspaper, Hindustan, a part of Hindustan Times Group of newspapers, as its Bureau Chief in Siwan.

Hindustan Times, reported that Ranjan, was shot dead on Friday by criminals near the railway station.

One of the bullets, according to report, hit Ranjan on the head and another on the neck. He was taken to the hospital where he was declared ‘brought dead’.

Quoting police the paper reported that five motorcycle-borne criminals were waiting for Ranjan, who was walking down the road to his home. They shot him twice.

The incident came on a day RJD chief Lalu Prasad was in nearby Panki to campaign for a bylection and visited a journalist’s home to mourn his killing by criminals a day before in Jharkhand.

The report of a Ranjan’s death comes just days after questions were raised at the state government for deteriorating law and order in the wake of a gruesome incident of road rage in Gaya.
