A day before the first first-phase of elections takes place, Bihar cabinet minister Awadhesh Kushwaha was made to resign for his alleged involvement in corruption.
The resignation came after a video emerged showing the JD(U) leader taking money.
“We believe that the sting video is authentic. His (Awadhesh Kushwaha) resignation has been sent to the governor’s house,” JD(U chief Sharad Yadav said.
The video was tweeted by senior BJP leader Sushil Kumwr Modi.

Kushwaha, the JD-U MLA from the Pipra assembly constituency in Bihar’s West Champaran, was shown in a sting operation carried by a local TV channel Jai Hind Bihar. The channel has also uploaded the video on YouTube.
However, the minister’s voice is not clear and a voice over the video explains that Mr Kushwaha was taking the bribe by promising contracts in the next government if the JD-U came to power.
Kushwaha has denied any wrongdoing. He said, “I don’t know where this has come from. I am being targeted by the BJP. Union Agriculture Minister Radha Mohan Singh is from this area. The BJP and he cannot digest the crowd thronging to my rallies and meetings.”
