In a chilling development, a recently sacked employee of Mitsuba Corporation shot at the Japanese company’s HR head in Gurgaon, leaving him injured.
The incident, according to local police, occurred at around 9 am when the victim, Binesh Sharma, HR head of Mitsuba, was going to his office in IMT, Manesar, in a car.
“Two persons on a bike tried to intercept Binesh Sharma’s car on gun point. When he did not stop but accelerated instead, the pillion rider opened fire aiming to kill Sharma,” Gurgaon Police PRO Ravinder Kumar told PTI.
Sharma suffered two gunshot injuries, he said.
“The attackers, one of whom was later identified as Joginder, managed to escape from the spot. Some passersby called the police and Sharma was admitted to Rockland Hospital where he is said to be out of danger,” Kumar was quoted by the news agency.
The victim’s father, Rati Ram Sharma, said that doctors had operated upon Dinesh to remove the bullets that had penetrated his back adding that he was out of danger.
Quoting police sources, Indian Express reported that the cops suspected a third person had been following Dinesh from the time he left home, and was updating the assailants on his location. Police added that it seems they were targeting his head, but missed as the vehicle went over a speed breaker just as they pulled the trigger.
Meanwhile, the police said that they had registered a case under relevant sections against Joginder and his accomplice. “Investigation is underway and raids are being conducted at all possible hideouts of the attackers. We will arrest them soon,” the PRO said.
