Taking to Instagram, Janhvi thanked Madhuri ob behalf of her father, Boney Kapoor and sister, Khushi Kapoor. She wrote, “Abhishek Varman’s next film was very close to mom’s heart …Dad, Khushi and I are thankful to Madhuriji for now being a part of this beautiful film.”

The Karan Johar’s film Shiddat had, among others, Alia Bhatt, Varun Dhawan, Sanjay Dutt, Sonakshi Sinha and Aditya Roy Kapur. The shooting for Shiddat, which is a joint venture of Karan Johar’s Dharma production in collaboration with Fox Star Studios and Sajid Nadiadwala, will start soon.

The last Bollywood film that Madhuri acted in was Gulabi Gang in 2014. Her next film Total Dhamaal is likely to be released later this year. Post Sridevi’s death, there were speculations on who will replace Sridevi’s role in Shiddat. Janhvi’s public social media post had put an end to all those speculations.

Madhuri was always deemed as Sridevi’s heir apparent in the Hindi film industry as the next female superstar after the former ruled the industry for more than a decade.

Sridevi had died in Dubai with the reason of her death being termed as accidental drowning. Janhvi, who is making her debut with Dhadak was recently abused by a user on Instagram prompting her step-sister, Anshula Kapoor to shut up the troll.
