Hizbul Mujahideen orders girls to wear burqas, beauty parlours to shut down in Kashmir


Banned militant outfit Hizbul Mujahideen has reportedly issued a notice in Jammu and Kashmir’s Anantnag area, asking girls to go to school only while wearing burqas (veils).

The notice was allegedly written and displayed in Pulwama district of South Kashmir.

The militant group is said to have listed three main so-called orders in the notice penned in Urdu.

The first of these relates to increasing instances of boys and girls taking substances such as alcohol and drugs in the area. In the notice, a warning has been issued to those committing such acts, saying the consequences of indulging in such behaviour could be dire.

IMG-20150724-WA0008Principals and administrators of both private and government schools have been told to make arrangements of burqas (veils) for girls on an urgent basis.

In the third demand made in the letter, militant group Hizbul Mujahideen has asked for the immediate shutting down of all beauty parlours in the area.
