Unidentified gunmen on Thursday killed Anil Parihar, Jammu and Kashmir state secretary, with his brother. They were murdered in Kishtwar.
His brother is identified as Ajeet Kumar Parihar. Cops have launched the investigation. There are also reports of Section 144 being imposed in the Kishtwar region. A report by Times Now said that Parihars were fatally attacked outside their residence.
Eyewitnesses said that Ajeet Parihar was returning home with his brother after shutting his stationary shop. As for Anil, he had contested the 2008 assembly elections on the ticket of Jammu and Kashmir National Panthers Party from Kishtwar constituency.
Reacting to the news, former Jammu and Kashmir Chief Minister Omar Abdullah tweeted, “Very sad news. My condolences to Anil & Ajit Parihar’s family & colleagues. May their souls rest in peace.”

Jammu and Kashmir is current under the governor’s rule after the BJP pulled out of its alliance with PDP this year.
