Israeli national arrested with live cartridges at Goa airport

A 32-year-old Israeli national was on Saturday arrested at the Dabolim international airport for possession of live cartridges, police said.

A first information report was registered after six cartridges were found in the baggage of Biton Eliyan during an X-ray scan around 2.45 p.m., a police spokesperson said.

After a preliminary inquiry, Eliyan, who was on his way to Delhi from Goa, was arrested late on Saturday.

“He has been arrested under relevant sections of the Arms Act,” said a police official from the Vasco police station.
