Jolted by the Congress’ Rafale bomb, the BJP on Tuesday moved with lightning speed to control the damage in the election year. BJP’s cabinet minister, Vishwajit Rane, who was heard talking about secret Rafale files hidden in Goa Chief Minister Manohar Parrikar’s bedroom, said the video had been doctored to malign him.
Rane, who had quit the Congress to join the BJP in 2017, said that he had written to BJP President Amit Shah about the leaked audio. Terming the leaked audio ‘doctored,’ Rane said that he ‘never had any discussion on this subject with anyone.’
Elsewhere, Parrikar too reacted to the shocking development and said that this was a desperate attempt by the Congress to ‘fabricate facts.’ He took to Twitter to write, “The audio clip released by the Congress party is a desperate attempt to fabricate facts after their lies were exposed by the recent Supreme Court verdict on Rafale. No such discussion ever came up during Cabinet or any other meeting.”

In the leaked audio, Rane is heard informing an unknown journalist on the phone, “There were so many fights.. you know.. so many fights.. Nilesh Cabral went on and recruited maximum engineers from his Constituency, so everybody, Jayesh Salgaonkar got the list and showed it to him. Everybody was fighting with him and everybody was upset because no work is being done on recruitment front.”
He then goes on to make the shocking revelation on the Rafale related documents. He’s heard saying, “Apart from that the Chief Minister makes one interesting statement. That I have all the information of Rafale in my bedroom.”
This leaves the reporter shocked as he replies, “What are you saying?” The voice in the audio, purported to be of Rane, also urges the reporter to do a story by crosschecking his claims with someone he knew in the Goa cabinet.
Rane, according to the audio, then accuses Parrikar of holding the central government to ransom. He says, “Because this is how, you know.. this is something…which he said
..that means he is holding them to ransom.” Rane continues to inform the reporter, “He said its in my bedroom .. here only in the flat.. Each and every document of Rafale is with me.”
He then tells the reporter that this needed to be communicated to the BJP leadership in Delhi with assurance on its outcome. “But we need to have a meeting… because you need to communicate certain things to Delhi… what will be the outcome of this whole thing.”
