The Siachen survivor Lance Naik Hanamanthappa has died, Indian army said on Thursday.
According to reports, the Braveheart, who had miraculously survived even six days after being buried under deep snow in Siachen following an avalanche.
His other 10 soldier colleagues had died after being buried under the snow.

He was brought to Delhi’s RR army hospital two days ago. The doctors had said that the next two days were going to be extremely critical.
On Thursday, the army medical bulletin on the soldier had said that he slipped into deeper coma. However, at 11.45 am, the doctors said the soldier had lost his battle with life.
Condolences have started pouring in for the brave soldier, whose sheer determination to live had amazed even the doctors treating him even though he didn’t live to share the stories of utter heroics.
Prime Minister, Narendra Modi said, “RIP Lance Naik Hanumanthappa. The soldier in you remains immortal. Proud that martyrs like you served India.”
Congress President Sonia Gandhi expressed deep shock and profound grief at the demise of Lance Naik Hanamanthappa.
CPIM’s general secretary Sitaram Yechury said, “Sad to learn about Lance Naik Hanumanthappa. Heartfelt condolences to the bereaved families of ten brave souls who are no longer with us.”
BJP’s M Venkaiah Naidu said, “Deeply saddened by the death of Shri Lance Naik #Hanamanthappa today. A brave heart, he braved the harsh Siachen for long.”
