Following an unexpected ODI series loss against Bangladesh, India continued their wobbly performance when they took on Zimbabwe in the first ODI at Harare, winning only by a mere 4 runs in the end.
Put in to bat at Harare Sports Club, India scored 255/6 in their allotted 50 overs but this was only after a major collapse had the team struggling at 87-5 in 24.2 overs.
Ambati Rayudu (124 not out off 133 balls) stitched a 160-run stand with all-rounder Stuart Binny, who scored an impressive 77 off just 76 balls.
For Zimbabwe, Chamu Chibhabha and Donald Tiripano were the best bowlers, taking two wickets apiece.
Then, in reply, despite a fighting 104 from captain Elton Chigumbura, the hosts fell short by four runs. Binny and Axar Patel took a brace each.
