Hyderabad court issues non-bailable warrant against Union Minister


A court in Hyderabad has issued a non-bailable warrant against a union minister, YS Chowdary, in a case related to alleged default of repayment of loans.

Reacting to the development, the minister said that his inability to appear before the court in the past was because of his commitment to public life.

He said, “I have been just informed that a non-bailable warrant has been issued against me by the Hon’ble Hyderabad court. Owing to pressing public duties in public interest, I was unable to appear on the previous dates. I’ve highest regard for judiciary and never had any intention to avoid appearing in court. Court’s orders will be complied with.”

YS Chowdary, a TDP leader, is a Rajya Sabha MP and holds the portfolio of ministry of state for Science & Technology and Earth Sciences in Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s cabinet.
