Subramanian Swamy says no NDA leaders turn up to pay tribute to Hindu Mahsabha founder Madan Mohan Malaviya

BJP Rajya Sabha MP Subramanian Swamy on Monday alleged that no leader from the BJP-led National Democratic Alliance had turned up to attend the function marking the birth anniversary of the Hindu Mahasabha founder, Madan Mohan Malviya.

Swamy took to Twitter to write, “Today in Parliament Central Hall, Pt Madanmohan Malaviya’s birthday was celebrated. No NDA Minister attended the function.”

Pandit Madan Mohan Malaviya, who was also a four-time President of the Indian National Congress, had founded Hindu Mahasabha and Banaras Hindu University in 1915. Malviya head the Congress in 1909, 1918, 1932 and 1933.

Aam Aadmi Party’s social media head, Arvind Jha, took a dig at the BJP by accusing that the saffron party only used Malviya for seeking votes.

Jha tweeted, “One party uses Madan Mohan Malviya to seek votes. You know who they are ?”

Both Prime Minister Narendra Modi and his bete noire Arvind Kejriwal had kickstarted their Lok Sabha campaign by garlanding the statue of Pandit Malviya in Varanasi in 2014.

On Twitter though, several BJP and Congress leaders were seen posting tweets paying tribute to the freedom fighter, deemed icon for both Congress and the BJP.
