Head constable posted at Uma Bharti’s house commits suicide


A Delhi Police Head constable stationed at Union Minister Uma Bharti’s residence in Delhi reportedly committed suicide by shooting himself with his service gun Sunday night.


According to a PTI  report, the incident took place around 10.30 PM, following which police teams were rushed to the residence of Uma Bharti.

Bharti is the Union Minister for Water Resources, River Development and Ganga Rejuvenation in PM Narendra Modi’s cabinet and she resides in New Delhi’s Ashoka Road.

The head constable, who committed suicide has been identified as Brijpal of Delhi Police’s security unit.

Senior police officials said that Brijpal was immediately taken to the nearest hospital, but was declared dead by the doctors.

The police are still clueless over the reason for the Head Constable for choosing to allegedly end his life.

“He was declared dead at the hospital,” DCP (New Delhi) Jatin Narwal said adding an inquest has been initiated into the matter.

Brijpal is survived by his wife and three children.
