A day after several women came forward sharing their experiences of being allegedly molested by the TVF boss Arunabh Kumar, more former employee has taken to Facebook to make similar allegations.
Rafiya Khan wrote on Facebook, “This is my part of story. Call it molestation or touching someone inappropriately. I am not so unfortunate like other girls that I had to work with him. I know him otherwise. I had hired a Casting Studio two years ago. I was hiring and TVF was leaving that rented space. That’s how I came to know about this Arunabh guy exists. He was never my friend. He was just someone I know, Hi – Bye How are you were the limited words we must have exchanged.”
Khan said that one day Kumar asked her if she liked mangoes because he had bought some from Ratnagiri. As he uttered those words, Khan added, his hands slid on her back, from neck to waist.
She wrote, “Out of now where he started telling me he just came back from some place in Ratnagiri, and he bought mangoes. He asked me if I liked mangoes, while his mouth spoke those words, his hands slided on my back, from neck to waist. I’m not someone who gets scared easily, I wasnt scared, I just knew his intentions. I moved away from him, stared and said a NO and walked off. Since that day he never met his eyes with me. I should have punched him, but I ignored. (sic)
Another woman, Reshma Patra too posted her woes on Facebook recounting her experience from 2012.
She wrote, “It was 2012. I was working with PwC, in Bombay, living in a plush service-apartment & working 12 hours a day at an international Bank’s office in Prabhadevi. Arunabh was struggling then. There was no funding, etc. So, just like I do whenever I live in any city, I try to catch-up with “people from KGP, IIT, and known circles of people”. So, I messaged Arunabh on Facebook & we met for coffee, said Hi / Hello, etc, and I wanted to leave by 8-9pm. Arunabh asks me: “Would you go to my place, and dance for me”? I was like WHAT? I thought he was being funny. But NO, he was Serious. “He said he would like to get naked & see me stripping & dancing *for him*. He also told me that….he is fond of girls from Calcutta; he has “made out” lot of times, with random girls in ‘Cal’.”
Patra said that she never interacted with Kumar after that encounter.
TVF had issued an official release denying the charges after three former female employees had posted their ordeal on social media platforms.
The company said, “All the allegations made against TVF and its team in the article are categorically false, baseless and unverified. We take a lot of pride in our team and in making TVF a safe workplace that is equally comfortable for women and men. We will leave no stone unturned to find the author of the article and bring them to severe justice for making such false allegations.”
TVF is a popular online entertainment channel and has more than two million subscribers on YouTube.
Another woman, Reema Sengupta, had made similar allegations.
In her Facebook post, Sengupta had written, “I was shooting with him in the TVF office, for a web series I was directing last year. The first time we met at the recce, he asked me to send him my work, which I did out of courtesy. When we met on the day of the shoot, I asked him if he had seen the links. To this he said – why don’t you come over to my place and we can watch them together.
“We can also watch a movie. Which movie do you want to watch? I politely evaded the question and continued briefing him about the shoot. As I talk, he finds some lame excuse to place his hand on my hand (which was on the table in his glass cabin). In the middle of the shoot, he touches my shoulder tattoo and tells me he finds it sexy. After every other shot, he would come over to the monitor to see how the shot looks, but at the same time graze his hand against my waist. All this in a 5-hour shoot. I can only imagine what she must have gone through for 2 years! (sic)”
