Pakistani all-rounder, Shahid Afridi, has said that he felt more loved in India than Pakistan.
After arriving in Kolkata, the flambouyant Pakistani cricketer said, “There are very less nations where I’ve enjoyed cricket as much as I’ve enjoyed cricket in India. Yahan ke logon se humein bahut pyar mila, itna pyar humein Pak mein bhi ni mila jitna yahan.(People in India have always given me plenty of love even more than what I’ve got in Pakistan.)”
Afridi said that India were playing very good cricket.
He said, “If you look at the last game against us in Asia cup, Virat and Yuvraj did really well.”
Meanwhile, Shoaib Malik said that his team had prepared to ‘give our best.’
He told reporters in Kolkata, “I’ve never thought of batting at 1 number because I started as an off spinner, later I became a batsman. I have batted at all numbers and I don’t mind batting any number as long as it helps the team. We are working, we need to improve our skills in batting and techniques. Soon we will be back on track.”
India and Pakistan will meet at Eden Gardens on 19 March in their T20 World Cup encounter. The match was originally scheduled to be held in Himachal Pradesh’s Dharamsala but had to be shifted to Kolkata over controversy related to hosting team from Pakistan.
The newly elected president of Cricket Association of Bengal’s president, Saurav Ganguly, had said that he was pleased that Kolkata was playing host to Pakistani cricket team.
He told CNN-IBN, “I am happy that the game is happening in Kolkata. It could have happened anywhere in India but we are fortunate enough to host it and there have been India-Pakistan game in past and we will try to do best we can.”
