Former MP Mohammad Shahabuddin shifted from Siwan jail to Bhagalpur jail

Former Bihar parliamentarian Mohammad Shahabuddin was on Thursday shifted to Bhagalpur jail from Siwan prison.

An official said that after complaints that he was managing his wife’s poll campaign and threatening political rivals on a mobile phone.

A police official said, “After complaints by the BJP and other political parties that Shahabuddin was using a mobile phone to threaten his rivals and managing his wife’s campaign, the district administration shifted him to Bhagalpur jail.” The official added, “He was shifted to ensure free and fair elections in Siwan.”

Shahabuddin is presently undergoing a life term. His wife Hina Shahab is a Rashtriya Janata Dal candidate from Siwan assembly constituency.
