Former Delhi Chief Minister Madan Lal Khurana passes away


Former Delhi Chief Minister Madan Lal Khurana has died. He was 82. He was unwell for quite some time. He was the chief minister of Delhi between 1993 and 1996 before being replaced by Sahib Singh Verma. He was also the Governor of Rajasthan between January 2004 and November 2004.

Union Minister Harsh Vardhan wrote, “My heartfelt condolences to the BJP parivar and the family of our beloved former Chief Minister of Delhi & veteran BJP leader Shri Madan Lal Khurana ji who passed away today after prolonged illness. My thoughts and prayers are with his near & dear ones. May his soul rest in peace.”

Senior Delhi BJP leader Sudhanshu Mittal tweeted, “Deeply saddened to hear the demise of Former Chief Minister of Delhi and veteran leader Madan Lal Khurana ji. My thoughts and prayers are with his family.”

Khurana, according to report, died at 11 pm on Saturday night.

Khurana’s son, Vimal Khurana, had died in August this year due to cardiac arrest. Among those who had paid condolences at his house was Union Home Minister Rajnath Singh. He had tweeted after visiting Khurana’s house in August, “Visited the family of senior BJP leader Shri Madan Lal Khurana and expressed my condolences at the demise of their eldest son Vimal Khurana. Also enquired about the health of Shri Madanlal Khurana who is suffering from prolonged illness. I pray for his good health and recovery.”
