Fodder scam: Lalu Yadav and Jagannath Mishra found guilty in Chaibasa Treasury case

A CBI special court in Ranchi on Wednesday convicted the former Bihar chief minister, Lalu Prasad Yadav, in Chaibasa Treasury case. The court also convicted another former CM and veteran Congress leader, Jagannath Mishra.

Both Lalu and Mishra were later sentenced to five years in jail each. Lalu has already been convicted and sentenced to three-and-a-half years of jail term in another case related to fodder scam. Mishra was acquitted in that case.

Reacting to the development, Lalu’s son and former deputy chief minister of Bihar, Tejashwi Yadav, said that people of Bihar were with his father.

“We will read the order and respond in detail, but this is not the last word. We will appeal in the High Court against this order. The BJP and (Bihar Chief Minister) Nitish Kumar are constantly hatching conspiracies to land Lalu Yadav in more trouble. Nitish Kumar frequently goes to Delhi not for any other reasons but to plot against Lalu Yadav.”

Tejashwi said that people of Bihar were aware that the man who had won their mandate was in jail while those who were defeated had formed the government through the back door.

Raghuvansh Prasad Singh, another senior leader from RJD, blamed Prime Minister Narendra Modi and Nitish Kumar for influencing the CBI court.
