Delhi’s Farhan Sabir is Voice India champion


Delhi’s Farhan Sabir was on Sunday crowned as the Voice India champion in the &TV’s popular reality show.

This was after Farhan was selected in the top four finalists that included Rasika Borkar, Parakhjeet Singh and Niyam Kanungo.

Farhan won a Maruti Alto car, cash prize of Rs 25 lakh and a singing deal.

Farhan, who hailed from a lower middle class family, had said that winning this contest will considerably change the financial condition of his parents.

He was being coached by popular singer, Shaan, on the reality show.

The 19-year-old boy from the national capital said, “I am honestly speechless right now and the feeling of winning the show is still sinking in. I will most certainly cherish this moment and work harder to find myself a place in the music industry.”

Speaking about Farhan’s win, Shaan said, “The Voice India has been a learning ground for me as well and I am going back with a lot of memories which will be treasured. Having said that, my role as a coach is not over yet. I am more than happy to welcome each and every participant who wants to learn and jam with like-minded musicians.”

With Shaan, Neeti Mohan, Salim Merchant and Benny Dayal as coaches, “The Voice India”, aired on & TV channel has a unique format of blind auditions and battle rounds.

The grand finale that was held last night saw top four contestants Niyam Kanungo (Team Neeti), Parakhjeet Singh (Team Shaan), Farhan Sabir (Team Shaan) and Rasika Borkar (Team Benny) battle it out in a high-octane musical face-off, a press release issued here said.

It was left to the audience to pick one voice and Farhan was announced as the winner of the singing reality show.

A resident of Delhi, Sabir is influenced by classical singing and plays Tabla. Since his father suffered from brain tumour, he left his studies at the age of 19 and worked in a cafe to support his family financially.

According to coach Shaan, Sabir’s journey on “The Voice India” has been phenomenal.

The grand finale was a star studded affair with legendary singer Anushka Sharma and Asha Bhosale gracing the occasion.

There were performances by Mika Singh and the show coaches.
