Kejriwal Vs Centre: Supreme Court says elected govt should have power or it can’t function

1

Supreme Court on Wednesday said that the elected government ought to have some power or it couldn’t function, NDTV reported.

“An elected govt should have some power to run, otherwise the government cannot function,” the court observed.

The case will now be heard on 18 January.

The apex court made these observations while hearing a petition filed by the Delhi government over differences with the LG office on administrative powers.

Kejriwal government has challenged the Delhi High Court’s order declaring the Lieutenant Governor as the administrative head of the national capital.
