An elderly man committed suicide in a posh housing society in Noida on Sunday. The deceased, believed to be in his late 50s, reportedly hung himself from a ceiling fan in his ninth floor flat.
The tragic incident took place in Supertech Emerald Court, a housing society situated in Noida’s Sector 93A. According to the residents of the building, the police were quick to arrive at the spot and the matter is currently being investigated.
Speaking to Janta Ka Reporter, Phase 2 police station’s SHO Rajpal Singh Tomar said, “We received the information on the suicide of an elderly man in the society. We immediately called the ambulance, but the doctors declared him dead.” Tomar said that his team was camped in the society.
The elderly man committed suicide between 2 and 3 pm, said the local residents of the society. One resident said, “We are shocked to learn about Mr Arora’s death. He was a very pleasant man. We often bumped into each other in the lift exchanged greetings. I can’t believe that he’s no more.”
The police have cordoned off the area. One police officer that it appears to be case of a suicide since there were marks around the neck of the deceased, who lived in his three-bedroom flat with his daughter and wife.
The area falls under the jurisdiction of Noida’s Phase 2 police station and is close to famous Delhi-Noida expressway.
