Delhi chief minister Arvind Kejriwal and all five other AAP leaders have been granted bail in defamation case filed by Union Finance Minister Arun Jaitley shortly after they appeared at Patiala House Court.
The next date of hearing has fixed at 19 May.
AAP MLA Nitin Tyagi signed surety for Kumar Vishwas, MLA Sanjeev signed surety for Raghav Chaddha and MLA Naresh Yadav for Deepak Bajpayee.
This was after supporters of Aam Aadmi Party and BJP clashed outside the Patiala House Court in Delhi just before the Delhi chief minister Arvind Kejriwal arrived with five other AAP leaders.
The police said that it had detained several supporters from both parties.
There was a huge presence of Delhi police outside the court in view of today’s development.
The hearing lasted barely few after the leaders arrived.
Kejriwal, in his reply to charges levelled against him, had said that Jaitley’s ‘claim of high public character is totally frivolous.’
Jaitley has sought Rs 10 crore in damages from Kejriwal and the five leaders — Raghav Chadha, Kumar Vishwas, Ashutosh, Sanjay Singh and Bajpai, for issuing allegedly false and defamatory statements against him and his family in connection with alleged irregularities in DDCA when he was its President.
