The full statehood of Delhi has been a thorny issue between the ruling AAP and the opposition BJP. Kejriwal, despite having won a historic mandate in February last year, has often complained of unnecessary interference by the central government through the Lieutenant Governor Najeeb Jung, who reports to the Ministry of Home Affairs.
On several occasions, the state government accused the LG of declaring several key policy decisions null and void allegedly at the behest of the central government.
