In the wake of Twitter banning two hatemongers’ accounts, demands to have similar action taken against Madhu Kishwar, a known supporter of Prime Minister Narendra Modi, has gained momentum. Supreme Court lawyer Prashant Bhushan on Tuesday called for a criminal action against her for her history of peddling lies on social media, in a bid to create communal unrest in the country.

“Thank you @TwitterIndia for doing this. There are many more which need to be suspended. Start with @madhukishwar, the queen of fake & hate news. But suspension of their account is not enough. They need to be prosecuted for the serious criminal offences they have committed,” Bhushan tweeted. His tweet came after it emerged that Twitter had banned the accounts of two right-wing individuals, known for spreading for hate on social media, @mediacrooks and @sarjadeja.

Kishwar on Tuesday had once again earned the ire of law enforcing agencies after she was caught spreading lies on Twitter. Kishwar on Monday had taken to Twitter to post a series of tweets targeting the Jammu and Kashmir Police and Chief Minister Mehbooba Mufti. This was after after one Ibne Sena alleged that the state police had taken his elderly father into custody for no fault.

Continuing with her rants against the police and Mufti, Kishwar wrote, “Shocked to learn from @neelakantha that @spvaid –the DG of J&K actually suspended the SP who killed Burhan wani in an encounter–all because @MehboobaMufti was upset at killing of Burhan. A DG playing doormat to jehadi politicians– Is this what IPS training is all about?”

The Jammu and Kashmir Police was quick to respond to her tweet informing her that Kishwar’s tweet on the alleged suspension of the SP was fake. The Jammu and Kashmir Police’s tweet read, “More than shocked to read concoted information being shared by a senior journalist like you @madhukishwar .No SP has been suspended.Kindly check before sharing such information. (sic)”

Earlier in March this year, the Gurugram Police in Haryana had exposed utter lies spread by Kishwar, who had sensationally claimed that five of those who attacked the school bus carrying children had Muslim names.

Kishwar has been a serial offender when it comes to spreading fake news and lies on social media. She had once shared a photo of poor road conditions in Bangladesh passing it off as a sign of deteriorating infrastructure of Bihar.
