Demand for criminal action against RSS, BJP after a Swaminarayan idol is shown in Sangh uniform


A new controversy has erupted in Gujarat after the photo of a Swaminarayan idol in RSS uniform went viral on social media platforms.

According to reports a students in a school in Laskana village in Surat district on Monday noticed that the Swaminarayan idol was wearing the Sangh uniform.

Soon the news spread with a lightening speed prompting the RSS leaders to issue a clarification that they were not behind this act.

The situation became so tense that on Wednesday the school administration called in additional security personnel to stop the followers of Swaminarayan, who tried to enter the school premises.

The RSS last week had organised what it called educational and physical training camps for its volunteers at Swaminaranyan Mission school, run by Swaminarayan Gurukul Vidyalaya at Laskana village in Surat district.

RSS Sangh Sanchalak Dr. Jayenti Bhadeshiya, who was the chief guest, said, “RSS leaders had not changed the dress but the Swamiji who is taking care of the school had change the dress of lord Swaminarayan idol.”

Gujarat Congress president Bharatsinh Solanki has demanded criminal action against “RSS and BJP” for the act.

Surat city Congress president Hasmukh Desai was quoted by Indian Express as saying, “The incident is really condemnable. We are also followers of Swaminarayan Sect and our religious feels had been hurt by the incident.”
