Delhi minister Gopal Rai resigns, Satyendra Jain to take charge of transport ministry


Delhi Transport Minister Gopal Rai has resigned citing health reasons.

PWD and Health minister Satyendra Jain to take charge of Transport ministry.

Rai had recently asked Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal if he could be relieved of his ministerial duty following his recent surgery to get the bullet out from his neck.

Kejriwal government is in the midst of giving push to plenty of transport schemes and Rai is currently undergoing physiotherapy at Spinal Injuries Centre.

Rai also held labour and employment portfolios.

He’s, however, believed to have informed Kejriwal his inability to do justice to the responsibility as a minister because of his post surgery treatment.

The resignation also comes amidst allegations of corruption against Rai.

Rai on Monday had said that he will personally go to the Anti-Corruption Branch to discuss the app-based premium bus service scam, which has been mired in allegations of corruption.

Kejriwal had recently tweeted asking Rai present himself before the ACB to answer questions on the bus controversy.

Rai is presenting himself before the ACB along with all files and Officers of Transport Department at today. He is also expected to visit the LG office.
