The dean of a medical college in Madhya Pradesh’s Jabalpur was found dead this morning at a hotel in Delhi, reports NDTV.
Dr Arun Sharma, who was the dean of Jabalpur’s NS Medical College, was probing Vyapam scam. He was found dead in his room in Hotel Uppal, close to the Delhi airport.
His hotel room was reportedly locked from the inside and medicines and alcohol were found next to the body.
According to IBN, he was on his way to Agartala for a Medical Council of India inspection.
Congress general secretary Digvijaya Singh said, “Dr Arun Sharma, Dean of Jabalpur Medical College found dead in a Delhi Hotel. His father NK Sharma was a Minister, MP and MPCC President. I pay homage to him and convey condolences to his family. Incidentally Dr Sakalle earlier Dean of Medical College Jabalpur was found dead burnt in his residence lawns at 7:30 AM two years back.”
The Vyapam Scam involved the Madhya Pradesh Professional Examination Board, which holds exams for positions like medical officers, constables, teachers and auditors for government departments. The candidates allegedly bribed government officials to ensure that they made it to the list of those who cleared the test.
With this death, the number of people found dead related to Vyapam scam has gone up to 47. Only yesterday, an Aajtak journalist Akshay Singh, who had gone to MP to investigate Vyapam, was found dead.
