Najeeb Jung orders inquiry into allegations against Kejriwal govt’s legal counsel


Delhi BJP leader Vijender Gupta has petitioned Lt Governor Najeeb Jung against Rahul Mehra, senior standing counsel of Delhi Government, on which an inqury has been ordered.

Gupta’s petition was based on a complaint by a law student against Mehra and his associates.

Jung and Kejriwal have locked horns since the latter scripted a historic electoral win over the BJP, bringing it tally to just three in the Delhi assembly.

Supreme Court is currently hearing the Delhi government’s appeal against the High Court’s verdict, which described Jung as the administrative head of Delhi.

In a setback for Kejriwal government, Delhi High Court in August had ruled that the Lieutenant Governor was the administrative head of National Capital Territory.

Delhi High Court also dismissed petition filed by AAP govt challenging powers of the LG in the state.
