Police in Delhi have sealed the chamber of advocate PK Lal after one of his female colleagues accused him of raping her inside the office, located within the premises of Saket court.
Lal has now been booked and arrested for rape after his junior alleged that she was sexually assaulted on Saturday evening. According to woman’s complaint, Lal, who is in his 50s, had called his 32-year-old colleague to his chamber on Saturday evening.
Lal was reportedly drunk when he allegedly raped his colleague, said police. He’s now been arrested. Deputy Commissioner of Police (DCP) (south) Romil Baaniya was quoted as saying, “The victim, in her statement to the police, said the accused, who was in an inebriated condition, sexually assaulted her in his chamber which is in the same complex where she works.”
The woman lawyer said that she had gone to Lal’s chamber at around 7 pm, when he sexually attacked her adding that she lost consciousness during the incident. The alleged victim also added that she immediately contacted the cops as soon as she regained her consciousness.
Reacting to the development, Secretary General of the Saket Bar Association, Dhir Singh Kasana, said that it was a very unfortunate incident. “We have suspended the membership of the accused and will serve a notice upon him as and when he is out on bail,” Kasana was quoted by Live Law website.
In April this year, a 26-year-old woman had alleged rape by a 60-year-old lawyer in Rohini court in Delhi.
