Delhi comes to standstill due to monsoon downpour

Heavy monsoon downpour has left the life in the national capital crippled with reports of water-logging and traffic jams coming from several parts of the city.

The morning office-goers struggled to reach their destination as roads faced unprecedented traffic jam.

The Delhi Traffic Police took to Twitter to inform people about the areas to avoid following disturbances caused by heavy rains.

The worst affected areas were ‘R/A Pusa, Anand Parbat, Lokesh Cinema to Mundka Metro Station (both carriageways),Vayusenabad, Savitri Cinema, Amrita Shergill Marg, Kemal Ataturk Marg to Samrat Hotel and GGR-PDR(Both Carriageways).’

The Met Office, according to NDTV, had forecast heavy rain on Monday morning. The city on Sunday recorded light rains between 2.6 mm to 0.6 mm in different parts but they failed to bring down the humidity which oscillated between 81 and 97 per cent, an official .

Commuters have been sharing their traffic woes on social media platform.
