Police in Delhi have said that they had strong ideas on who the killer of the Indian Army Major’s wife was soon after the 30-year-old woman’s body was found with throat slit and run over by car in the national capital.
The Army Major’s wife was found with her throat slit near Brar Square in the Delhi Cantonment area on Saturday afternoon.
“We received a call for an accident but later found injuries on her neck. We are registering a murder case. We have solid clues about the accused. Her husband identified her,” NDTV quoted DCP (West) Vijay Kumar.
The woman in question had gone to the Army‘s base hospital for her routine physiotherapy in her husband’s official military vehicle. The driver dropped her outside the main entrance of the base hospital. Around 30-minute later, the driver reportedly returned to the hospital to pick the Major’s wife up, but was informed that she had missed her scheduled physiotherapy session as she had failed to turn up.
Soon, cops received a call from passers-by about a body lying on the road with face visibly crushed as a result of being run over. Police arrived at the spot and found that the woman’s throat too had been split. The Army Major was immediately informed as police sent the body for the post-mortem.
The cops suspect that the woman may have been murdered first before being run over by the car in order to make the murder appear as a case of road accident.
Army Major, who is posted in Dimapur, Nagaland, had also reportedly contacted the Narayana Police station to file a missing complaint of his wife, reported India Today. The two had got married in 2009 and have a son. Police say that motive of the murder is neither sexual assault nor robbery.
