According to Police, the woman had gone to the pub in south Delhi’s Hauz Khas Village area on Tuesday evening with her friends. She met Abhishek at the pub, where the accused befriended her and invited her to his house.
Deputy Commissioner of Police, South, Romil Baaniya was quoted by IANS as saying that, while at the accused’s house, the Candian national national was sexually assaulted.
The woman, the police added, later managed to escape and reach the AIIMS Trauma Centre, where she borrowed a phone from a passer-by and informed the police about the incident.
Baaniya said, “The victim has given a written complaint. We have booked Abhishek under relevant IPC sections and arrested him. He was produced before a magistrate.”
The Canadian High Commission in Delhi too has been informed about the incident. “Prima facie, the woman was molested by the accused in a bid to rape her and as he failed in his attempt, he beat her,” a police official said.
“We have conducted medical examination of the victim and are waiting for the medical report. Relevant IPC sections will be added accordingly,” he added.
