Delhi Police on Sunday arrested Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) MLA from Hari Nagar, Jagdeep Singh, for allegedly assaulting the manager of a waste management company, contracted by the area’s municipal corporation.
Quoting police, PTI reported that he was later released on bail.
DCP (west) Pushpendra Kumar said, “Singh has been arrested under IPC sections 323 (causing hurt), 506 (criminal intimidation and 341 (wrongful restraint). He was later granted bail.”
The MLA later tweeted saying it was just a ‘rumour.’
Singh tweeted, “I am at home its only a rumour.”

Singh is the seventh AAP legislator to be arrested by Delhi Police after former Delhi Law Minister Jitender Singh Tomar, Manoj Kumar, Surinder Singh, Somnath Bharti, Akhilesh Tripathi and Mahendra Yadav.
The alleged incident, according to police, took place on 21 May when some locals approached the complainant, Mohit, for a truck to be used for Shab-e-Baraat celebrations and he refused.
The locals then forcibly took over the truck, which led to a heated argument between them and employees of the waste management company.
Singh allegedly intervened, which caused a scuffle. Singh allegedly thrashed Mohit, who is the manager of the company. However, the case was registered on 23 May, two days after the alleged incident took place.
Singh was recently in news for refusing a posh official bunglow, offered to him because of his status as the Chief Whip in Delhi government.
