A Delhi-based imam has allegedly sent a divorce notice to his wife in Uttar Pradesh’s Muzaffarnagar after his newly-wed wife was allegedly raped by his brother in the village. The cops have not revealed the identity of the imam, but said that he was not present at the time of his wife’s rape.
According to police, the accused, identified as Moinuddin, raped the imam’s wife at his house on Sunday and physically assaulted her when she opposed his rape attempts. The woman has been sent for medical examination, reported news agency PTI.
The woman’s brother has filed a police complaint prompting the cops to register an FIR against Moinuddin, Station House Officer Jitender Kumar was quoted as saying.
The woman’s ordeal did not end here.
Her husband, an imam in Delhi, sent her a divorce notice after he learnt about her rape. The couple had got married only last year.
