Delhi HC seeks reply from AAP govt over bribery allegations against minister


The Delhi High Court on Friday sought a response from the Aam Aadmi Party government over a plea seeking a CBI probe in alleged bribery case against Food and Supplies Minister Imran Hussain.

According to ANI news agency, the Delhi government told the High Court that it needed more time to file a status report on the corruption charges levelled against Hussain.

The next hearing of the case has been scheduled to be on 27 July..

The Congress Party had in February alleged that one of Hussain’s staff had been caught on camera demanding bribe on his behalf.

The party had demanded immediate resignation of the Delhi minister, alleging a sting operation had revealed a bribe of Rs. 30 lakh being demanded by a person for regularising an illegal construction in Ballimaran area of north Delhi on his behalf.

The AAP had vehemently denied the charge.
