Delhi chief minister, Arvind Kejriwal, has said that the Delhi High Court dismissing the PIL challenging his government’s notification on circle rates was a big victory for farmers.

His tweets said that it was also a big blow to the land mafia in the capital.

AAP-led Delhi government on Thursday had decided not to seek Lieutenant Governor, Najeeb Jung’s approval while enhancing circle rates on agricultural land.

A resolution passed by the government had said, “The cabinet directs the officers to implement the notification dated 4 August 2015, so that they are not liable for any loss to the exchequer due to non-implementation of the notification. The cabinet also urges the Hon’ble LG not to resort to issuance of such unlawful communications which are cause of embarrassment for holders of High Constitutional Offices.”

The LG office had reacted calling it a “bad in law since it pertains to Land which is a Reserved Subject’, which came under the domain of the central government.
