Delhi govt orders action against TV channels who aired doctored videos on Kanhaiya


Delhi government has ordered action against the three news channels, who allegedly broadcast doctored videos on the JNU Students’ Union leader Kanhaiya Kumar.

The order, according to a top government source, has been issued by the deputy chief minister Manish Sisodia, who also holds the Revenue portfolio.

It was the revenue ministry, under whom the probe into alleged fake videos was being carried out.

The source said, “Yes, the minister has ordered taking action against the guilty channel. One of the channels against whom action has been ordered is Zee News.”

Other two channels are reportedly to be NewsX and India News.

On 3 March had reported how Delhi government was considering to file criminal cases against certain TV channels for airing ‘doctored’ videos of the JNU students’ union leader Kanhaiya Kumar.

Reliable sources told that the revelation in the forensic report had left the government ‘utterly shocked.’

On Tuesday last week, we had reported how a lab in Hyderabad had revealed that two of the seven videos were doctored to falsely implicate Kanhaiya Kumar under sedition charges.

One such doctored video was reportedly sourced from the twitter account of former aide of Union HRD Minister, Smriti Irani.
