Delhi court directs police to register FIR against Kumar Vishwas for alleged molestation


A Delhi court on Wednesday directed Delhi Police to lodge an FIR against the Aam Aadmi Party leader Kumar Vishwas on a plea by an AAP volunteer who had alleged molestation.

News agency PTI reported that the police had the liberty to arrest poet-politician if required during the investigation.

The court also said the complaint accused him of making “sexually coloured” remarks which required probe.

While pronouncing the order, the metropolitan magistrate Pankaj Sharma , also orally observed that as per the complaint, advances had been made towards the complainant.

“The facts of the complaint disclosed commission of cognizable offence. As mentioned in the complaint, accused made sexually coloured remarks and made advances towards the complainant which require police investigation and accordingly concerned SHO is directed to register an FIR on the basis of complaint and investigate the matter,” the magistrate said while allowing the complaint filed by the woman.

It also directed the police to file the compliance report by tomorrow.

In its status report filed before the court, Delhi police had said during its probe, nothing was found to substantiate the allegations levelled by the complainant against Vishwas to register any criminal case against him.
