Dead lizard found in mid-day meals meant to be served to toddlers and pregnant women


Mid-day meal meant to be served to toddlers and expecting mothers at a government-run centre had dead lizard in Chandigarh.

The lizard was discovered by no less a person than the Mayor of Chandigarh herself.

According to the spokesman for the Chandigarh Municipal Corporation, the Mayor discovered the dead lizard in the food prepared for the government-run Aanganwadi Centre in Mauli Jagran Colony.

The spokesperson, who said that the mayor had arrived at the centre after receiving complaints regarding poor conditions there, has now ordered a probe.

“All the children and pregnant women were found sitting in unhygienic conditions,” he was quoted by IANS.

There are 500 Aangadwadi centres in Chandigarh, 30 located in Mauli Jagran Colony alone.
