in an embarrassing gaffe, a recent list prepared by the Uttar Pradesh Police on the transferred police officers also included one Satya Narayan Singh, who died long ago. Singh held the rank of Deputy Superintendent of Police before his death. State DGP has promised an action against the guilty.
However, his named featured in the list of the recently transferred IPS officers. The development has caused embarrassment to Director General of Police OP Singh, who took to Twitter to apologise for the error. He wrote, “Its a matter of deep regret that in today’s transfer list of Dy.SP’s a cancellation order has been issued for late Dy.SP Sri Satya Narain Singh. Such blunder is unpardonable and i apologise for it as HOD. I’ll take strict action & remedial measures for better sync of information.”

Singh’s decision to publicly apologise earned him plenty of plaudits from social media users. One user wrote, “What a courage and grace in accepting an error…Only a man of character & conviction can come out in open and accept a folly, howsoever trivial it might be. Sensitive face of
@Uppolice indeed. Salute to you Sir for this noble gesture.” “To err is human. There is no big deal. You have exhibited a high quality of leadership by admitting the mistake on behalf of your team and taking a quick corrective action.”
In a massive reshuffle of the IPS officers in Uttar Pradesh last week, the state government had transferred 64 of them to new locations. Among the transferred officials were 16 Senior Superintendents of Police and SP-level officers, including Vaibhav Krishna who has been made the new SSP of Noida. Krishna has replaced Ajay Pal, who has now been sent to the Police Headquarters in Allahabad.
