DDCA claims to get clearance to host World T20 semi-final


Delhi and District Cricket Association (DDCA) treasurer Ravinder Manchanda on Wednesday claimed to have received the clearance to use the contentious RP Mehra block at the Feroz Shah Kotla ground for the T20 World Cup semi-final.

Manchanda told ANI that the DDCA had received all the necessary clearances required to host the first World T20 semifinals match.

But the Delhi High Court on Tuesday refused to entertain the DDCA’s plea and asked the cricket governing body of the state to talk to the International Cricket Council (ICC) in this regard.

The DDCA had earlier also sent a letter to Justice (retired) Mukul Mudgal, who is appointed as the observer by the court for the prestigious tournament matches in Delhi, and assured him of the safety of the Mehra Block, which has not been used in the World T20 matches.
