DCW summons BS Bassi, warns of consequences if he fails to comply


Delhi Commission for Women chief Swati Maliwal on Tuesday summoned the city’s top cop Bhim Sain Bassi to appear before the commission on 8 February.

In her two page letter, Maliwal asked Bassi why he had failed to respond to her repeated requests for data on crimes against women. (see the letter below)

Maliwal said, “The commission takes strong note of the fact that despite sending various letters and notices as mentioned above, and despite the passage of several months, you have unjustifiably failed to provide crucial information sought by the Commission, which is imperative on the commission on the issue of the women’s safety and safeguards for women in Delhi.”

Bassi has been asked to appear before the commission on 8 February at 4 pm failing which he will ‘subjected to the consequences of non-attendance as provided in law.”
