The popularity of the dancing uncle at a wedding function is no longer just limited to social media users. His video has now caught the attention of Bollywood stars, who usually pull off these acts with aplomb on a regular basis, albeit under the guidance of professional choreographers.
Sharing a video of dancer Pragya Behera, actor Anushka Sharma wrote, “OMG! I’m legit upset I didn’t think of doing this. ?Loving your moves and your #NUSH tee”
Even Arjun Kapoor could not stop himself from commenting on the viral video. He wrote, “I can see pure happiness on Mr
#sanjeevshrivastva s face while he dances… this pure joy is what we actors & performers crave when we let loose in front of the camera, the ability to make others wanna dance just by looking at u is an acquired skill… keep the moves flowing sir.”

Since Janta Ka Reporter carried a report on how the dancing uncle had become a new sensation across India, his video began to be used for more online memes with people recording their own videos on the popular Govinda track and joining it with that of the new social media celebrity.
The man in the video is believed to be from Madhya Pradesh’s Bidisha. His name is Sanjeev Shrivastava and the 46-year-old dancing sensation is a professor in Bhopal’s Bhabha College.
In the original wedding video, Shrivastava was seen dancing to an old Bollywood chart-buster, Aap Ke Aa Jaane Se.., a song that had Govinda and Neelam enthrall the audience in the movie Khudgarz in the late 80s. Although the dancing uncle has a lady giving him company on stage, it’s his solo performance, which has caught the imagination of internet users.
The dancing uncle, as he’s being referred to on social media, is copying Govinda’s dance moves to utter perfection. He’s suddenly become much more than a social media sensation.
