24 April is when Sachin Tendulkar celebrates his birthday every year. And if you happen to be a cricket fan, you need not be reminded about this date, for Tendulkar is widely regarded as the most iconic cricketer, born in India.
As expected, there was a deluge of sorts on Tuesday with Tendulkar fans sending him birthday greetings on social media platforms. ‘God of Cricket’ and Sachin Tendulkar both were trending on Twitter on Tuesday.

However, they were outraged by a tweet posted by Cricket Australia, which decided to wish one of its own cricketing greats, Damien Fleming, who too shares his birthday with Tendulkar. In its birthday wish for Fleming, the Cricket Australia tweeted, “some @bowlogist gold from the man himself – happy birthday, Damien Fleming!”
The birthday tweet for Fleming also carried an old footage of an India-Australia One Day encounter in Perth during the 2000 Carlton & United Series, where Tendulkar is seen getting bowled out off Fleming’s bowling.

It did not take long for Tendulkar fans to target Cricket Australia as it was deemed disparaging to the Indian legend.

Tendulkar turned 45 today, while, Fleming turned 48. By luck, Fleming celebrated his birthday in India following his commentary stint for the ongoing IPL.
For the record, Fleming dismissed Tendulkar seven times in combined Test and ODIs. In India v Australia match-ups featuring Tendulkar, Brett Lee got the legend’s scalp the most time – 14 – followed by Glenn McGrath (13), Gillespie (8) and Fleming.
