Patidar leader Hardik Patel has said that his supporters were free to contest on Congress tickets if they wishes.
Speaking to ABP News, Patel said that Congress was the only alternative to BJP in Gujarat.
He said, ” I’ve said it before that even if father contests on BJP ticket, people should not vote for him. Congress is the real alternative in the state.”
Patel also said that he was filing a case against Taj Hotel for leaking the CCTV footage of him meeting Ashok Gehlot. It was alleged that Patel and Congress vice president Rahul Gandhi had held talks during the latter’s visit to Gujarat on Monday.
However, Patel said that he would tell the world the day he meets Gandhi adding that meeting the Congress vice president was not a crime.
Patel along with Dalit leader Jignesh Mevani and OBC leader Alpesh Thakor have launched a concerted campaign against the BJP in Gujarat.
He said that the BJP leaking the CCTV footage of hotel was an attack on democracy.
Assembly elections in Gujarat are due for December this year. The BJP has governed the state uninterrupted for 22 years.
There’s a noticeable anti-incumbency against the ruling BJP. People are also angry over some of the economic policies including demonetisation and GST rollout by the central government.
