BJP MP Meenakshi Lekhi today accused the Congress and the Aam Aadmi Party of being “opportunist”, saying they can go to any limit to grab power.
Admitting that there were shortcomings in the 10-year rule of Parkash Singh Badal-led Shiromani Akali Dal(SAD)-BJP government in the state, she said that “development” and “good governance” are the poll plank of the alliance.
Asking voters to re-elect the SAD-BJP Badal government in the state, Lekhi said the shortcomings in governance would be removed if the alliance is voted to power for the third consecutive term.
“The Congress and Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) are opportunists.
The two political parties can go to any limit to grab power.
In 2013, AAP and Congress forged an alliance in Delhi and ruined the national capital,” she alleged.
She said people of Punjab must know that no development works have taken place during the Arvind Kejriwal regime in Delhi.
“Kejriwal allured the people of Delhi with false promises.
He is in a habit of putting the blame of his failures on others,” she said.
Ruling out hung Assembly in Punjab, she said the BJP will perform better this time on the 23 seats on which it is contesting.
Charging the AAP and the Congress with spreading propaganda against the SAD-BJP alliance, she said both the parties have miserably failed to perform in the states ruled by them.
She said that the Indus water treaty must be reviewed and 60 per cent of Indus river water going to Pakistan should be brought back to Punjab.
She alleged that the AAP supremo was aligned with extremist forces which is detrimental for the state’s future.
Besides, 21 MLAs of Kejriwal’s party have been booked in criminal cases including charges of rape and corruption, she said.
Hitting back at Congress Vice President Rahul Gandhi for terming Deputy Chief Minister Sukhbir Singh Badal a “symbol of corruption”, the BJP leader said those who had been facing corruption charges in chopper scam, National Herald case, 2G scam and coal scam should think twice before blaming others.
